The mari channel

Hello and welcome to the mari channel, My name is Peter Aversten and I work as a Texture/Light TD at Fido vfx. I started this blog/ vimeo channel cause I like the program Mari and it has maked  my daily life as a vfx artist a little easier, now i want to share some of that experience with you. I will try to get fellow Mari artist from around the globe to guest blog and share their experience. When I first started to use mari there were no real layering present and it was a  new experience. I developed a workflow that to me was almost non destructive but very mind boggling.  You had to be top on what channel was driving what pre bake pass in what shader. Now with the new version 2.0 that workflow is a thing of the past. I’m sure things will come up at the way and I’m certain that my workflow will change and evolve when new features and tools is developed.

The mari channel is a personal project of mine and I will show you workflow and assets that i can show that is not under NDA or cleared to be shown. The project right now is a gatling droid that will show up in a personal short in a distant future. Im writing the script right now. I can tell you its post apocalyptic. As this site evolves im sure the techniques and program will as well. Think of it as a living organism.

I’m also inviting you to vote for new ideas and workflow tools at the mari ideascale some of my feature request has come through, or are in development right now.

Cheers

Peter A
